Bio

Texas-based artist, Eraste (air-este), spent the majority of her adolescence alone in her affection for music. A 21-year-old self-taught singer and instrumentalist, Eraste did not grow up in a musical household. The extent of her formal training was brief piano lessons at the age of 12, where her teacher bribed her to show up with Mountain Dew (she really hated piano lessons, but she loved Mountain Dew.) Worship leader turned pop prodigy, she takes her influence anywhere from 2010’s pop artists like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, to the 2014 tumblr “grunge”era, to the storytelling of country music. Eraste brings her unconventional up-bringing to her music, creating an honest product of fear and loneliness; with her extremely distinct vocal tone. Eraste’s piercing voice combines with her raw emotion in her debut single, ‘Break My Own Heart’, as well as gives insight into her inspiration from artists like Lorde and Halsey. She went on to release a 5 song EP, ‘crashing every party’ that was described as “…the equivalent of neon makeup running down tear-stained cheeks with hard-hitting emotional lyrics…a rejection of stylistic boundaries”

In her recent single, “habits” where Eraste is the sole songwriter, she has been praised for her ability to describe a deeply personal experience so well that it feels universal. An upbeat track and introspective lyrics is quickly becoming a staple of hers and she continues to explore ideas such as grief, loneliness, and the feeling of being a stranger to oneself- all with the catchiest hooks imaginable. We can look forward to several releases from her in 2022.
